Each hotel needs to determine what works best for their market segment, competitive set, destination, etc.  The fundamental challenge is that in many destinations, the business climate has changed - perhaps permanently for some - the corporate and group business segments may have reset with new baselines.  Expedia is not evil, Choice is not evil - they, as well as the rest of the hotel industry and Online Travel Agencies, are attempting to establish a new equilibrium.
